Wildlife Surveys
The
Catena Group, Inc. has extensive experience in conducting terrestrial wildlife
surveys for federal, state, and municipal governments, as well as for clients
in the private sector. Our services include identification and mapping of protected
species habitat, protected species presence/absence surveys, and complete biological
inventories of vertebrates and some invertebrate groups. Our background experience
is derived from an array of professional and research oriented fieldwork with
small mammals, songbirds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, crayfish, butterflies,
and dragonflies. Our most recent terrestrial and aquatic wildlife inventory
was conducted in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 2004 as part of the
North Shore Road Wildlife Resources Survey.
Through our commitment to scientifically sound protocols and report writing,
our personnel have gained the respect of the scientific community and regulatory
agencies involved in the protection of rare wildlife. Currently, The Catena
Group holds both North Carolina and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recovery
permits to conduct surveys for the Cape Fear Shiner, Spotfin Chub, and Saint
Francis’ Satyr. We are also well-qualified to conduct surveys for the
federally protected species Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Wood Stork, Piping Plover,
Bog Turtle, and Mitchell’s Satyr, among others.
